Warsaw is at its best when it is accidentally beautiful.
Not postcard beautiful. Not old-town reconstruction beautiful. I mean the moment when sunset hits the towers, the glass turns gold, the traffic becomes light instead of noise, and the whole hard-edged city looks as though it has been keeping a secret.
Then the light moves, the tram arrives, somebody blocks the pavement and normal service resumes.
Still. For a few minutes the concrete jungle wins the argument.
Pressure changes shape. The work remains.
